Luis&rosa
Brothers at heart with Latin blood having braved distances and History, destiny brought them together in the lands of the south of France to tell their fortunes. It is the story of wandering souls as there are so many among us, in each of us… A secret, a mystery questions us in an almost unknown language… Like an enigma to be solved… The dark night of the soul…
Luis&Rosa invite us to a moment of contemplation and communion around this existential and universal concern by following the thread of an intimate, warm, nostalgic, traveling and poetic Latin music.
It is by inexorably following her destiny that Rosa meets Luis Pousa. Thomas Huet, then drummer of the group Manosanta, met the Franco-Colombian in Paris and told her the facts of this strange Argentine guitar player exiled in Avignon. Flash… Evidence… Déjà vu… Luis recognizes her and the group adopts her to go a long way together.
The southern sun awakens vivid memories. Rosa leaves the capital to be closer to her big brother and settles at the foot of the Cévennes. This is where their magical collaboration will operate and unearth from the depths of their being compositions woven with memories, hopes, lost and found illusions, forgotten loves, frantic quests, obsessive dreams,…
A new collaboration was born at the start of 2023 with the English cellist Catherine Morrison, aka Cathy Fells.
With a degree in musicology in New York and a diploma at the Royal Academy of Music in London, she specializes in baroque music and discovers a passion for Latin American music which she has explored for more than 10 years in the company of Luis with whom they formed the duo “Violao Cello”.
It was therefore quite natural that we came to collaborate and invite Cathy to adorn our compositions with her beautiful instrument.
The first album was released in March 2020. The duo valiantly got through the pandemic period by reconnecting with their roots with 2 albums in tribute to their masters: “Cancionero I & II”. In 2021 they released the album “Le Cartel de la Rose” as a Quartet with their colleagues Jean Michel Parenteau on percussion and Louis Guillermin on double bass. They perform notably at the Théâtre de Poche in Sete, at the Théâtre Benoit VII in Avignon, at the Robion Festival, at “Les Nuits Cigales” and at the Théâtre du Nymphée in Vaison la Romaine.
